Windows 2.03 vs. Windows 95
I've recently rediscovered a Windows 2.03 floppy and decided to run a quick test:
Feature Windows 95 Windows 2.03 Hard Disk Usage 285 MB (my system) 1,35 MB Min. RAM to work nicely 32 MB 512 KB Min. processor speed to work nicely 100 MHz 12 MHz Fits on a single 1,44 MB floppy No Yes Supports EGA and MCGA video modes No Yes Intel 80286 support No Yes Contains cardfile application No Yes Contains time-planning application No Yes Contains coooool reversi game No Yes Can run in Windows 95 MS-DOS-Box No Yes Looking at these results, I really have to ask myself what all this operating systems and GUI research money has been spent for in the last years. Windows 2.03's technical features and its flashy 80's look seem lightyears ahead of Windows 95.
