29/07/2001: Wild food, wild animals
Well, this was a very nice day. Nigel and his family very spontaneously invited Eugene, Suzanne, Kamil and myself to lunch at his home. Thanks very much to them for making this gathering possible!
I had a lot of fun listening to Nigel and Kamil talking about Nigeria and their families. However, as soon as we discovered that we're fellow nerds, the conversation drifted somewhat towards Linux/Win2k/web oriented stuff...
A very welcome distraction from the geek stuff was provided by the tasty Nigerian lunch -- yummy!
In the evening, I went to the Night Safari -- a very wild experience! It is a rather unusual wildlife park, where night-active animals can be seen in a very natural environment. It seems that the Zoo wants to have as few fences as possible, which makes the trip through the park a very nice experience. The subtle lighting provides an opportunity to see the animals in action without disturbing them too much. Flash photography is obviously not allowed there, so there are no pictures from that trip.
