Singapore views: Thailand
Backpacking in Southern Thailand
In December of 2001, I went to southern Thailand together with Mau, a fellow exchange student from Canada. We travelled there from Singapore by bus and spent about a week in Thailand, then returned to Singapore.
Our first stop was Hatyai, which is near the Malaysian border. We stayed there for about two and a half days before we continued to Songkhla.

During our stay in Hatyai, we also made an excursion to Wat Hat Yai Nai, a famous temple that is nearby, and a waterfall about 30 kilometeres from the city.

Our next stop was Songkhla, a more quiet town located about a two hours drive east of Hatyai. It is famous for its nice seafood. The food was indeed nice, and also the hottest we had on the whole trip.

During the two days in Songkhla, we also visited the Songkhla Zoo, about 30 kilometres from the city. It is more like a wildpark, and it would have been even nicer to see it using a motorcycle or a car, rather than walking around the whole park...

We then moved on to Trang, and after a night there spent a night in a very nice beach resort on the island Koh Sukorn to finally enjoy one of the famous Thai beaches.

Shortly before our return to Singapore, we spent one night in Hatyai.

Finally, we had to say goodbye to Thailand...
